In 2023 I had the opportunity to work in the Tourism industry. I delivered guided tours around Edinburgh, Glasgow and Central Scotland for groups of guests arriving on cruise ships. It has been so much fun meeting visitors from all over the world and a privilege to introduce them to Scotland. For the previous two years I worked at the Lighthouse Laboratory in Glasgow, the largest PCR test processing centre for SARS-CoV-2 / COVID-19. Although I had no previous science experience, I wanted to be part of the front-line teams who were supporting the country through the pandemic. I can now operate a range of scientific equipment including large Liquid Handling robotic systems and I have a Pandemic 'Thank You' Medal from the UK Govt! Before that I had a really successful career as an IT Sales Professional focused on delivering Information Management projects across multiple industry sectors. I have extensive experience of data-led digital transformations. My aim is to ensure that complex data is presented to end-users in a 'business ready' form to deliver well defined business improvement goals.I have repeatedly shown a strong capability to understand industry or client specific business requirements and present complex IT solutions to Senior Staff in terms of meeting those needs.I have experience of projects focused on GDPR, Data Governance, Master Data Management, Data Warehouse, and a range of Business Intelligence requirements including migrations of infrastructure; software implementation and business process change.Outside of work, my interests include casual cycling, running and long walks with our dog, Brodie, who is happy to engage in discussions around the future of AI in Tourism.
