During my year as a Sarnoff Cardiovascular Research Fellow I worked in the laboratory of Dr. Calum MacRae at Harvard Medical School and Ravi Iyengar at Mount Sinai. My research was multifaceted and involved the use of complex systems analysis to understand the origins of arrhythmias. Our integrated genome-wide computational, dynamical and experimental analyses revealed that genome wide determinants of arrhythmias were selectively associated with fragile physiological dynamics of ion channel kinetics. This association allows us to predict populations at risk of arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death.A separate project sought to better understand the nexus of chromatin regulation and metabolism. We used chemical systems biology to identify new chemical probes and metabolites that modulate histone modifying enzymes. This work provides deep insight into novel cardiometabolic mechanisms of heart failure.

I was a member of the pharmaceutical development department responsible for the design and optimization of therapeutic protein dosage forms and delivery systems for clinical trials and market launch including process characterization and validation studies. I was also involved with a broad range of research projects focused on protein-structure function relationships, dynamics and photophysics of proteins and small molecules, and theoretical and computational studies of biological systems.
