Tim enlisted in the Marine Corps in February 1986 and attended Boot Camp at MCRD, San Diego, CA. In April 1987 after graduating boot camp and a couple schools, he reported to 7th Engineer Support Battalion (ESB), Engineer Support Company,1st FSSG, Camp Pendleton, CA. In March 1989, Tim was assigned to 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, MSSG-11, Camp Pendleton, CA where he deployed to the Western Pacific for a 6 month deployment to Japan, Korea, Philippines, Hong Kong, and Thailand. In December 1990, Tim deployed to the Persian Gulf region, Oman, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emeritus, and Kuwait to participate in Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm stopping in the Philippines and Singapore on the way back to the states.After returning in August 1991, Tim was re-assigned to 7th ESB, 1st FSSG where he would remain until leaving active duty in June 1992.
