Dr. Lu came on board as the CEO of the company, which had been existent for over one year. This company develops DC/DC power ICs with an emphasis on power management ICs for mobile devices.Has defined the product strategy and core technologies to be developed. Has established close relationship with a few SoC companies who develop application processors to address the Tablet and Smart Phone markets in China. One company is very close to enter an agreement to develop custom power management ICs for their Smart Phone chip set.Returned to the United States for family reasons.

Tim was a cofounder of the company, where he was involved before the inception of the company. He was heavily involved in business plan preparation, business strategy definition, and engineering management to carry out the product development.The company grew from a couple of dozen people to over 100. Tim was initially the Vice President of Research and Development, where he managed an engineering group growing from 20 to 60 people. The products developed over these years include: LCD drivers, audio and video processors, and MIPI based high speed serial interface circuits. In the last few years, the group also developed a Capacitive touch panel driver and sensor device, which has enjoyed major market shares in China.In the last year, Dr. Lu took the Vice President of Marketing and CTO position. In that capacity, he was responsible for the business development for the capacitve touch panel products. He defined the marketing strategy to address the China market. With this strategy, the company is expecting a $40-50 million revenue in 2011.

Tim was a part time CTO while serving as a consultant via non-cents productions.Awind is in the business of developing and marketing digital home products based on various media processors. Tim's responsibility was to define the technology development strategy for the company. He was also involved in the development of some unique technologies that the company is preparing for filing a patent. The technology was for a media broadcast system for the home environment. A unique protocol based on Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) was developed to support the broadcast network setup, teardown and modifications.

During this period, Dr. Lu provided contract engineering services in the area of wireless system and chip set development. He had been in charge of a number of CMOS based wireless chip set development in the context of system design, function partitioning between RF, baseband analog and DSP. He specified and defined the performance and functionality requirements for all elements in a wireless chip set. He had also been involved in the Digital Signal Processing algorithms development for these wireless ICs.One major client in Japan focuses their development in CMOS based FM/AM radio chips, FM transmitter, transceiver, and digital audio broadcast chips. Dr. Lu was responsible for the system design for all these chips. He was also responsible for the algorithms development for the receiver and transmitter design. In addition, he also defines the digital hardware architecture, which was used as the basis for logic designers RTL coding.Projects for other minor clients include some Telecom and RF ICs. The projects include:A telephony chip, which involves the telephone line interface, line and acoustic echo cancellers, and mixed mode circuits, such as A/D and D/A converters. Dr. Lu's responsibility includes the evaluation of existing designs and proposed modifications and enhancements to the algorithms and circuits.A Sigma Delta A/D and D/A design, which is used for audio playback and storage. Dr. Lu was responsible for the architecture design evaluation and some Matlab simulation and verification.A DAB RF IC design consultation. This chip supports the European DAB standard, which covers three frequency bands. Dr. Lu's responsibility was to evaluate the system architecture design and critical components specification. It includes the Low Noise Amplifier gain control and SNR requirement analysis, filtering requirements, and interface to the digital processing units.

Dr. Lu was the principal founder of Tellus. He set up the company in both Science Based Industrial Park in Hsinchu Taiwan and Fremont California. In 1998, the Taiwan operation was acquired by local investors and Dr. Lu focused his effort in managing the California operation.Dr. Lu served, at different times, as the company's CEO, President, and CTO, responsible for general corporate management and for defining TTI's technology strategy. In addition, he has also been actively involved in core technologies development and product development.Tim led the effort for the system design for a wireless packet data based credit card transaction system. This effort leads to the filing of a number of patents and systems installed in the filed within a short period of time. Prior to the development, Tim also presented Tellus capability and negotiated contracts with the customer.Tim was also involved in a number of other projects in detail. They include a wireless messaging system based on Handspring PDA and a wireless data modem, CDMA data module, digital cordless phones, and pagers.

Dr. Lu joined TCSI as a senior staff engineer. He was then promoted to Manager, Product Development in 1987 and then Director of Engineering in 1989.TCSI is a design service company, which provides high caliber designs to worldwide tier 1 Telecommunication companies. Dr. Lu, as a senior staff, involved in preparing proposals, and negotiating contracts with customers. After securing contracts, he then managed the engineering team to deliver the design work.Dr. Lu's division develops digital signal processing based designs for both system products and chip sets for various applications, ranging from wireless transceivers, voice band modems, to audio and video processing chips.The following is a partial list of projects where Dr. Lu was heavily involved:A DSP based IS-54 digital cellular phone.CDMA based digital cordless system.
