In the latter stages of Crossrail I delivered a business systems transformation to migrate the relevant part of 4 million techncial documents from the legacy project EDMS to the TfL in-house EDMS.

I set up this company, funded by a combination of venture capital and DTI grants. What it did was acquire, market and licence Intellectual Property (in the main, patented technology) developed by clients and university tech-transfer groups. I used my own international patents for an electronic desktop device (see below in my LinkedIn profile) as the first seed-corn IP product. Licentric gave me experience with IP, and I later obtained a qualification in undertaking IP audits for clients.

I was engaged to manage a multi-£million portfolio of railway infrastructure projects, both engineering and IT rollout projects, the latter working in an embedded team that included Ernst & Young, Oracle and Deloittes.

Brussels

During the merging of Exxon and Mobil I worked within an embedded team led by PWC and SAP to set up and operate a project controls facility that maintained up-to-date reports on programme metrics, performance & deliverables. The programme was the rollout of Exxon's 'Stripes' company-wide financial management environment, replacing legacy systems.

This was a successful consultancy that provided expert project management advice, know-how and staffing to corporate clients. We also carried out project control system installation and integration - key clients included Apple, AWE, ICL, Siemens and Railtrack. I delivered Forecast's certification to ISO9001. The company was subsequently acquired by what became AEA Technology.

I built the sales and consultancy network in Europe for MPI's specialist project management software and services. I was part of the design team that created Micro Planner X-Pert, the first critical path analysis tool for both Macintosh and Windows platforms.

My 12-year career in commercial radio broadcasting culminated in the design, commissioning and operation of the news and programme studios, outside broadcast facilities and multi-track recording studio; I created a 'magazine programme'​ for home computer users in which we broadcast data code over the air (the software-sharing programme, Datarama pre-dated the World Wide Web); I set up Independent Local Radio's first transatlantic radio simulcast with a Boston radio station. Prior to Radio West I had been appointed Assistant Chief Engineer at Cardiff Broadcasting and before that I worked as a Broadcast Engineer at Piccadilly Radio in Manchester.
