My interest in all aspects of nature has led me to study Plant Sciences at Wageningen University. With specializations in ‘greenhouse horticulture’, ‘plant pathology & entomology’ and ‘plant sciences’ as well as involvement in our family owned garden center/nursery I have knowledge across the horticultural supply chain starting at breeding and up to the consumer. An international orientation is indispensable for any horticulturist. Mine has been strengthened by studying in an international environment at Wageningen University, conducting an internship in China and involvement in international projects at flower auction FloraHolland.During the past years I have been involved in many aspects of horticultural business; cultivation, ICT, logistics, finance/administration, marketing and research amongst others. I believe all of these contribute to a strong horticultural sector, however my prime interest is with the produce itself. Production and post-harvest physiology constitute the backbone of horticulture. Whether it be (garden) plants, flowers or vegetables, obtaining and retaining a high quality product is my passion. My ultimate target is to create a great consumer experience with high quality horticultural produce, thereby promoting the use of flowers, plants and vegetables as they give us health and joy!
