An engineer, he taught me to "over-build" everything and to do every job right. And to treat people with respect and to help others.After my senior year in Sweden (Rotary International), I joined GE as a 3rd-shift computer operator who sponsored my IT degree followed by an MBA. I learned a great deal about leadership and the power of diverse teams on my way to CIO and by managing P&Ls for IT Services corporations. I lived on planes, trains, and in hotels around the world. But having the most postcards taped up on your 3rd-grade daughter's homeroom wall is no replacement for being home.
