I was fortunate enough to be the lead engineer working on the Skills Victoria / Technology One Student Management System TAFE Rollout - A consortium-based approach to configuration and the creation of functional enhancements. My responsibilities included but were not limited to the following; • Project Technical Specialist for the Technology One / Victorian government Skills Victoria TAFE Student Management System Project upgrade environment - The management of the onsite TPSE (Target Production Simulated Environment) includes both Windows server and Linux systems running on a virtualised VMWare environment• Creating documentation for both the company and clients such as capacity planning guidelines, network and system audits and solution architecture documents• Management of the onsite Enterprise SQL server environment team and assisting with ongoing database maintenance tasks• Installation and maintenance of the VMWare environment • Capacity planning, installation and maintenance of the IBM Bladecentre hardware and SAN environment• In addition to administering the onsite projects system, other tasks include liaising with external TAFE’s regarding system analysis for the Student Management system rollout, including but not limited to analysing and specifying server hardware, disk systems and networking appliances such as load balancers and firewalls and other network security appliances and methodology Achievements; • Liaising with the Project Management Office, product vendors, onsite clients and stake holders with TAFE IT staff to plan system development and design documentation for the now successfully completed Technology One Student Management rollout and go-live plan• Leading a team in administering and maintaining a large scale replicated VMWare server environment including both Microsoft and Linux/Unix servers running over 15 pre-production TAFE student management development environments with over 99.9% uptime over the projects lifetime.
