My role in the company was based mainly on the hand and spray lamination of various components ranging in size. However, I played a significant part in the optimisation of a number of manufacturing processes for specific components to reduce the overall production times and reduce costs. My main tasks involved- Ensuring the work areas and procedures used were safe and hazard free.- The application and consolidation of GRP onto complex multi-part moulds.- Liaising with the line manager about component lead times and quality standards.- Preparing moulds for use and the removal of parts without damage.Achievements:- The modification to manufacturing processes on a large mould to ensure the safety of working personnel, reduce the fabrication time, and improve the part quality significantly. - Helping to generate process time plans for new projects and create technical drawings for their manufacture. - The successful fabrication of a particularly problematic part due to its geometric complexity and tendency to cause heat build-ups. Their company once had a division that manufactured door canopies and architectural mouldings which I was a part of. My position was based on the hand lamination of multiple components and the occasional mould repair. Unfortunately, the simplicity of the role did not satisfy my creative nature, and for that reason my time in this position only lasted a number of months.
