👋 Hi there! I'm Tim, a UX designer crafting digital experiences that are accessible, inclusive, and safe. I'm a strong believer in the use of technology as a force for good. I'm proud to have the chance to steer the way that individuals interact with technology in the world. I describe my work as a liaison between business & product needs and user experience to drive positive outcomes for all parties involved.👨‍🔬 ExperienceI'm a research scientist by training, recently earning my PhD in Molecular Genetics at the University of Toronto. My research leveraged functional genomic approaches to study small molecule cancer drugs. Here, I championed design thinking to craft experiences for fellow scientists and lay audiences alike using skills in data visualization and scientific illustration. My experience as a quantitative researcher affords a keen eye for technical details which I apply to make complex ideas easier to understand for others.🫶ValuesAt the heart of my design philosophy is humility. I am aware that my users come from many different backgrounds. Yet, they all bring personal experiences with technology that are critical to inform my work. I believe in learning from and being obsessed with their underlying motivations and frustrations. During the design process, I advocate for the individuals I work with. I actively communicate design decisions at each step of my proposed solution. My curiosity, creativity, and compassion compel me to put empathy into action for my users. I don't shy away from learning new tools and fostering connections to accomplish my goals. Even so, I cherish my personal development outside of work.
