Profile bio

About Timo Kuester, Phd

I am an international scientist with roots in Germany, a PhD and two Master's degrees in Chemical Engineering from the University of Rhode Island and the Technical University of Braunschweig, Germany. I have over ten years experience working on diverse research projects, ranging from lithium ion battery production and testing, over ball mill parameter determination, to polymer fouling, adsorptive cleaning of ionic liquid catalysts, as well as the implementation of diffusion models in coupled CFD and DEM simulations.Over the course of my graduate program I extensively studied the capabilities of surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy for the in situ detection of environmental pollutants in water. During this project I spearheaded the SERS capabilities of the Chemical Engineering Department at the University of Rhode Island, procured measurement equipment, developed SOPs and data evaluation protocols and enhanced the field through numerous presentations at conferences and two published manuscripts, with a third in preparation. After finishing my degree I am now searching for an opportunity to apply my broad expertise, ingenuity and problem solving skills to a new set of challenges.
