At the end of 2016 I chose to switch careers from for-profit high tech product development (Apple, Adobe, some others) to nonprofit environmental public service. My focus is supporting zero waste in the areas of transportation, man-made structures, food, clothing, and general consumption (energy, solids, liquids, time). In 2019 I biked 5000 miles from San Francisco to Boston to deliver 254 talks about Oceans, Plastic, Climate Change, and Kids at schools, aquariums, churches, and libraries. My household is down to about 1 liter of trash a week, my house uses no fossil fuels and generates more electricity than it uses, most of my transportation is fossil fuel free by bicycle (occasional airplane flights are an exception that I'm working to reduce but I have bicycled across the United States twice on business instead of flying). While individuals can accomplish what I've done for themselves, we need governments and organizations to pursue this as if lives depended on it -- because our kids' lives do. I know all of my elected representatives personally except a few at the federal level. I've served on several government commissions and task forces including 10 years on the Sunnyvale BPAC.Since bicycling is fun and bicycling for transportation solves most of the problems facing our world, that is a particularly strong focus for me.I usually only accept LinkedIn invitations from people I know. If you send me a LinkedIn invitation, make sure you include a note about where we met and/or why we should be linked. A very compelling reason can persuade me to link to you if we don't know each other yet but intend to.Overview:Self-starting program & project manager with 30+ years of high tech product development and management experience and 35+ years of experience with nonprofits. Adaptable, quick learner, creative, positive, efficient.
