Committed to Hemingway's principle that 'easy writing makes hard reading,' I believe in capturing attention through accurate, clear, well-structured, and people-friendly (accessible, good UX) content and communication. My career has encompassed a stint in the military police, and various roles as communication, press and PR officer, content writer/editor, and website manager. These diverse experiences let me build my skills and perspectives. They also demanded adaptability and resourcefulness. There is one constant: my passion for meaningful communication and content. Swapping the sword with the pen, I now ● craft accessible content to simplify how people get information online and interact with websites and apps. ● champion usability and accessibility. ● specialise in content design and strategy. ● use language to gain attention, promote values, and build credibility, trust, and brand recognition.I offer a blend of loyalty, responsibility, and integrity, guided by a deep respect for people.I'm happiest in a multidisciplinary , cross-functional team where I can collaborate, problem-solve, strategise and write content that connects, informs, and inspires.I'd be happy to discuss how I can help your audience understand, engage and achieve its goals.

Web Content Editor, Website Management (Content Strategy)European Commission Jun 2017 - May 2023Brussels, Brussels Region, BelgiumI worked as team leader / senior member of the communication unit’s web team, contributing to the Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC) strategic communication. I was responsible for creating, structuring and maintaining the content (editorial, content design and strategy) as well as the overall management (web management) of the JRC’s main corporate website (EU Science Hub). Main achievements: ● Relaunching the JRC’s main corporate website (EU Science Hub) to an upgraded CMS (Drupal) and new design. This project included the development and execution of a comprehensive web strategy to guide the relaunch. This web strategy had to be in full alignment with the overarching corporate communication strategy (DG Communicaiton) and accommodate the JRC's strategic outlook and organisational restructuring. It also included using insights from audience research and web analytics, managing content inventory, ROT analysis, and content migration, creating a new site architecture and taxonomy, content strategy and work flows for content publishing, advocating and applying the corporate style guide. ● Setting up coaching sessions and direct support channels for content creators. ● Establishing the communication unit’s web team as a valued source of expertise and support for distributed webmasters and content contributors across the JRC (6 sites, in 5 countries). Through the coaching sessions and support channels, I coached best practices for copywriting including content search engine optimisation (SEO), usability and accessibility, new CMS (Drupal) content types and features, use and updates of style guide (content advocate for importance of language).I worked with social media, events, and visual communication teams for integrated communication.I supported colleagues in the Commissions department for communication (DG COMM) in creating and maintaining the corporate style guide. -

I implemented strategic online communication activities led by the Spokesperson service working as editor and coordinator with DG COMM. I acted as product owner in a cross-functional, multidisciplinary team of web developers, design and usability colleagues to make the web content accessible.
