The aim of my study was to find out how the company can improve its attractiveness as an employer in social media.The theoretical framework of my research is composed from the three different subject matters, which are digital marketing in social media, engagement and the factors influencing to the engagement in social media, and employer branding. The theoretical framework will offer a suggestion about the factors, which might influence the motivation of the recent and potential employees to engage to the social media pages of the companies. Theoretical part of my study will also suggest how to communicate employer brand to the target audience.The empirical part of my study is implemented by collecting the data with the survey from the recent and potential employees of the IT sector in Finland. I succeeded to gather 345 appropriate answers for the research. The gathered data was analyzed by statistical methods more precisely by confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). After the analysis, the model was made to illustrate the results of the research.Based on the theory there was found five factors that will influence IT sector’s recent and potential employees’ motivation to engage in social media. These factors were entertainment, integration and social interaction, personal identity, information, and information about the company as an employer. The perceived data approved that four out of five factors were compatible with the formed model. Consequently, there is no evidence that integration and social interaction would influence to the engagement of the target audience.The results of the research can be utilized in the processes of marketing and HR. By understanding the factors, which influence the engagement of the recent and potential employees’ of the IT sector in social media, the professionals of marketing and HR can target their communication for the audience in a way that is interesting and engaging.
