I'm a software engineer with a Bachelor's of Science in Computer Science & English Literature from Marquette University. I have two years of experience in web development and design, which alongside my years of study have gotten me very invested in learning new technologies and developing fun products. I've also spent many years improving my creative writing skills, which have greatly boosted my written & oral communication, and allow me to easily establish a line of communication between technical and non-technical parties.During my final development project at Marquette, I filled the Agile roles of product owner, project manager, web developer, and system architect. I worked with a small team to develop a mobile gamified podcasting application for a real stakeholder. By the end of the project, we'd successfully delivered our client's MVP, and it was a wonderful experience which got me excited to work on more Agile software development projects.At my previous job, I was the only engineer, and didn't have an Agile team to work with. Despite the difficulties this caused, I managed to develop the full-stack of an interactive mapping web application, which was published alongside an exhibit at the Milwaukee Art Museum. Although I'm proud of this achievement, the experience showed me that while I can manage a project on my own, I'd much rather have a well-structured team to collaborate with.Additionally, I love learning and trying to apply technology solutions in creative ways, which has led me to the two projects I'm currently working on in my off-time. One of them is a graph theory simulator written in Go (GoLang). The project helps me learn Go while applying it to a real product and writing neat, well-documented code. The other project is videogame development with Unreal Engine 5. For this project, I'm learning UE5, C++, and Blender to develop a game with my partner.In conclusion, the broad spectrum of experiences I've had over the years have led me to be interested in many fields, from most positions on an Agile software development team, to various types of journalism and editing, to game development & design, and more. I'm also very eager to combine the knowledge I've gleaned from both my fields of study in any scenario where I can manage to do so.
