I am a historian studying how local communities interact with the wider world. I am interested in seeing how people and groups oriented themselves within their communities to build identity, to define meaning, and to resist or integrate external pressures. My current research interest focuses on village societies in 16th-17th century Germany. Additionally, I am interested in public history and digital humanities, having completed two projects during my time at the University of Cincinnati. I chose to study the Early Modern Period because this is a period that laid many of the foundations of the modern world and German History because American education often privileges British, French, and Spanish history and because I am fascinated by the Protestant Reformation. Additionally, I strongly believe that historians have an obligation to outreach and present their research and findings to the public as a whole and want to work towards incorporating these into my academic career. I grew up in Xenia, Ohio, and graduated with a B.A. in History with minors in German and Classical Languages and Literature from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. I would love to hear from you!
