I am a postdoctoral researcher in the Matter under Extreme Conditions group. My research is focussed on the application of density-functional theory to materials under a range of pressures and temperatures.In particular, I am working on the theoretical development and numerical implementation of average-atom models. I am the lead developer of the atoMEC code (https://github.com/atomec-project/atoMEC), an open-source average-atom code written in Python.

Continuation of prior project to develop a deep-learning model to predict building heights from satellite images. In this next phase of the project, the aim is to use open-source satellite data.

In this project, we developed a model to predict building height data from satellite images. This model will be used as part of the Giga project, which aims to connect every school to the internet. My contributions to this project were:- Construction of a data-processing pipeline, to geo-reference and align building height (lidar) and satellite images (Maxar) data from different sources- Training a convolutional-deconvolutional neural network to learn the relationship between building height and satellite images- Maintaining the team's GitHub repository, contributing to client presentations and reportsThis project was part of the S2DS (Science to Data Science) bootcamp: https://www.s2ds.org/

PhD researcher in the field of electronic structure theory. My research focussed on methods to systematically improve the exchange and correlation approximation in Kohn–Sham density-functional theory. This involved analytical development and computational implementation (using Fortran and Python programming languages) of these new methods, both independently and collaboratively with other researchers at Durham and elsewhere.Alongside research, I was a workshop demonstrator for problem solving classes in the third-year undergraduate course on statistical and condensed-matter Physics. My PhD was co-funded by Durham University and the Max Planck Institute of Microstructure Physics.
