Main tasks include troubleshooting tool issues, responding to process deviations, and process optimization in CVD/PVD/Implant related processes. Worked with development on projects to reduce cost, and improve cycle time, and reduce process variation. Routinely deal with statistical process control, recipe management, and design of experiments. Equipment exposure: AMAT producer/precision frames, TEL trias, LAM Vector/Extreme, ULVAC/AMAT PVD frames, Varian/AMAT spot and beamline implanters.
  • Gonano Technologies
    Nanomaterial Engineer
    Gonano Technologies Mar 2008 - Nov 2011
Project lead on Nanospring CVD process development and optimization, as well as CVD equipment design and testing. Over the course of the project I was successful in improving materials yield by three orders of magnitude, which translated into an equivalent decrease in the manufacturing cost of nanosprings. My work was critical to the development of the next generation of CVD equipment for producing nanosprings, which is running on schedule and under budget. Successfully identified a new CVD precursor that reduced the cost of nanospring production by improving catalyst efficiency and reducing materials cost compared to existing process. Principal Investigator on a NSF SBIR phase I grant. Title: Method for Carbon Capture and Recycling. Provide chemistry and material handling expertise to ALD and pyrolysis coating processes. An inventor on multiple patents filed by GoNano. In charge of inventory control and purchasing for the lab.Characterization techniques: SEM and TEM --hundreds of hours of hands-on usage.XRD for crystal phase determination. Mass Spectroscopy, IR, and UV-Vis for reaction progression and product determination. XPS to determine elemental contamination and gather electronic state data.
  • University Of Idaho
    Organometallic/Inorganic Researcher
University Of Idaho Jan 2003 - Oct 2007
Routinely use inert atmosphere techniques for air sensitive synthesis. Synthesis of AlN utilizing aluminocene precursors. Complete synthesis and characterization of ansa-aluminocene and ansa-stannocene compounds. Nanomaterial synthesis and characterization: wet chemical techniques for the production of noble metal nanoparticles. Direct nanoparticle formation on NanospringTM and nanowire surfaces with determination of material quality. Conducted testing of nanomaterials for catalytic activity.
