My tenure at Birdman Bats, based out of San Francisco, CA, consisted of nearly 4 years of steady growth.I moved into the Birdman Bats home, October 2015 where the founder, Gary and I would make wood baseball bats in our basement, for friends and family. Flash forward to the summer of 2016 and we had successfully funded a Kickstarter campaign. This allowed us to expand to a warehouse and stock up on supplies. We spent the first year growing quickly, working long days / nights to meet demand. We hit year two running and continued our grass roots approach to growth. First, locally, but also to other parts of the country and world. We'd be making bats by day & traveling around to sell the bats on nights/weekends, at Little/mens League tournaments across Northern California. By year three we were approved to be an official bat maker of Major League Baseball. As well as, MLB approval, we were approved for play in the Nippon Baseball League, Chinese Professional Baseball League, Australia Baseball League, and various leagues in Europe, South America and the Caribbean. We even had a guy from South Africa! Year 4 and I had an opportunity to go to Australia where I played baseball and expanded the brand. We have guys swinging Birdman Bats in over 35 states, 18 countries, and 5 continents. #putsomewingsonit My role consisted of learning new skills and polishing existing ones. I learned the ins/outs of the baseball bat manufacturing. Start to finish, I was that guy to make sure the job was completed. I practiced my skills as a people person, & built relationships with individuals in and out of the game of baseball. I utilized previous friendships, from local leagues to fans to MLB/MiLB players, and used my innate nature to bring people together, to build a solid network as I moved forward. Most notably, I secured a six figure investment deal to solidify us at Birdman Bats as a continued up and coming contender, in the wood baseball bat industry.
