I was recruited by and successfully integrated into the legal department as a non-attorney with no legal training. Despite lack of formal training or education in the legal space, the Chief IP Counsel of KBR recognized my tech skills and ability to adapt and transferred me directly into his team of five. During my tenure, these were some of my achievements:- Successfully negotiated and executed over 140 non-disclosure agreements while maintaining over 400 non-disclosure agreements in various stages of negotiation in support of all business groups and technologies.- Worked directly with dozens of clients and outside counsel representation to successfully execute non-disclosure agreements.- Engaged with KBR’s corporate litigation in the organization and execution of action items associated with the defense of a lawsuit claim made against KBR.- Actively assisted with the successful integration of an acquisition of 3 international businesses made by the technology business unit.- Collaborated with mergers and acquisitions group to create alliance specific non-disclosure agreement templates.- Successfully integrated Salesforce with the legal group to assist with daily tracking and maintaining of legal records.- Continued support of negotiation and execution of commercial agreements for the technology business unit.

- Responsible for the signing of fourteen new technical services agreements as well as generating approximately $4.7 million in job income associated with technical services across all different technology spaces in 2014.- Engaged with over forty active clients globally, providing them with customized solutions across the refining, petrochemical, coal monetization, ammonia, equipment provision and automated solutions sectors.- Collaborated with marketing, management and technology leads to develop and establish new technical services product line offerings.- Worked with technology’s legal department to create two new technical services agreement templates – one to expand scope of services and products technology’s technical services line could provide and one shortened template designed to assist customers requiring emergency technical assistance.

- Expedited internal alignment and resolution of complex deals requiring input from multiple business unit departments including but not limited to regional sales, business unit and corporate management, operations, international trade compliance organization, legal, tax, corporate business development oversight and treasury, all while maintaining an interface with customers.- Coordinated over one hundred transactions in the crude processing and ammonia producing technology spaces, providing proprietary equipment and services to clients in North America, India, Russia, Europe and Latin America with contract values ranging up to approximately $55 million.- Coordinated over ten key alliance and acquisition prospects, ranging from ensuring exclusive EPC alliances with worldwide leaders in specific technology arenas to adding new technologies to strategically round out the business unit’s portfolio.- Coordinated the implementation of a new protocol for all commercial document control within the business unit, streamlining commercial documentation processes to get proposals to customers more efficiently, all while maintaining best-in-class compliance with federal export policies.- Assisted with implementation of a single centralized archive for over three years of commercial documentation.- Developed the business case to business unit and corporate management to increase business unit oversight in small commercial transactions, thereby reducing burden on corporate resources.

At the lab of Yan Xia, PhD., I conducted experiments involving mutagenesis by PCR, cloning, miniprep, purification, SDS gel preparation, transformation, Western Blot immunoprecipitation, and an immunofluorescence assay. The experiments and results recorded and presented in a written paper.

At the lab of Weibin Zhou, PhD, I helped Dr. Zhou by genotyping zebrafish by isolating DNA, running PCRs on DNA, purifying or digesting said DNA, and imaging the DNA. I also phenotyped carrier zebrafish with microscopes.

I worked on project involving cloning a specific gene (mCCR5) into expression vectors under the supervision of Dr. Joseph Nthale and Alex Huang, Ph.D. I specifically performed experiments which included growing and maintaining cell lines, extensive use of enzymes, cloning DNA and cDNA, running PCRs, and gel imaging among other laboratory techniques.
