When I was a child I wanted to be a construction contractor. My uncle was a contractor and would show us around his house at all the beautiful work he had done. But as I grew older I realized that I enjoyed working with numbers and computers. I am very proud to say that I graduated this May from West Chester University with Summa Cum Laude honors. I worked hard because I wanted to be at the top in my chosen field, Accounting and Finance. But I must say that getting honors feels extremely rewarding.My years at WCU focused me on my goal of becoming an accountant. Since I was working while going to classes, I learned a lot about the importance of being organized and multi-tasking. While participating and leading group projects, I learned how to interact with people, deploy work across a team and delegate. I also became more comfortable public speaking. These skills and knowledge helped me to realize success during my internship that will support me in my future work.I served as a tax intern this last tax season at Rothman Boylston LLC. I prepared individual federal, multi-states and local tax returns using Lacerte Tax Preparation Software. I gained a wealth of knowledge preparing all the schedules and forms including Excel Worksheets to support the final returns for the partner to review. Learning how to work in a real-life work environment by interacting with managers, partners and clients accentuated the experience. On my personal time I enjoy golfing, fitness workouts, traveling and sports. I have traveled throughout the United States as well as Canada, Mexico and Aruba. I am hoping to travel to Europe as well as other countries that will allow me to gain a global business perspective. My golf score isn’t anything to brag about but I’m working on it. I hope to use construction tools someday on my own house but I’m happy that I switched to Accounting and Finance because that is my passion!
