A healthcare executive with academic and clinical background, Tim was CEO of Mass General Physician Organization, Harvard's largest physician faculty group. He was the the founding director of Partners Center for Population Health, responsible for risk contracting and performance for Medicare, Medicaid and Commercial risk contracts. He started and ran one of the largest and most successful ACOs in the US, achieving shared savings, highest ranking on quality metrics, and over $2B in health trend savings. He served as an inaugural committee member on the US Health Secretaries Physician Payment Advisory Committee as well as numerous other federal and state advisory boards. Most recently he led England’s National Health Service through a strategic transformation as the National Director of Healthcare Transformation to deliver improved services at lower unit cost. His executive, academic, and advisory careers have focused on how best to organize, finance and operate healthcare services in order to maximize population health benefit. With over 150 publications in areas of health policy, financing, quality measurement and health technology, Tim remains on staff at Mass General Hospital and an Adjunct Professor at Harvard Medical School.
