My practice focuses primarily on bankruptcy and insolvency-related matters. I lead the restructuring and bankruptcy legal group for the commercial bank. Prior to my current role, I have represented debtors, secured lenders, strategic investors, and various other parties in financially distressed situations, including both in-court and out-of-court restructurings. I played an active role in the successful conclusion of Peabody Energy Corporation's chapter 11 case. Among other items, I advised Peabody with respect to a $1.5 billion equity financing, which Peabody implemented in connection with the confirmation of its chapter 11 plan.My other chapter 11 debtor representations include AFA Foods, Boscov's Department Stores, Chrysler, Fresh & Easy, FLYi, and Harry & David. I had a key role in Harry & David's chapter 11 case, which the Turnaround Management Association named the 2012 "Turnaround of the Year" for large companies.My secured lender, committee, and fund representations include the majority holder of second lien notes in the Goodrich Petroleum chapter 11 cases; the Ad Hoc Committee of Term Loan Lenders in the Southcross Holdings chapter 11 cases; the Official Committee of Second Priority Noteholders in the Caesars Entertainment Operating Company chapter 11 cases; and the first lien secured lenders in the chapter 11 cases of AWI and Allen.I also have advised private equity funds, hedge funds, and other similar investment vehicles in a variety of circumstances, including asset sales and the evaluation of potential debt and equity investments in distressed companies.Outside of the office, I have served as an adjunct professor at DePaul University College of Law.
