I am a teaching musician, working full time as a middle school string orchestra teacher in Webster, NY. I bring my composition skill set to my job, routinely writing new music for my own student ensembles as well as for those of my colleagues. I have at times been a guest composer, visiting local schools to rehearse my works with students. A number of my original compositions are available from Kendor Music, Inc. and have been performed by student ensembles in the U.S. and around the world.Prior to the start of my full-time teaching career, I was a professional double bassist in Michigan and Ohio. I was a contracted player with the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra and freelanced with groups such as the Toledo Symphony and the Kalamazoo Bach Festival, among others. While in the midwest, I also operated my own private lesson studio and worked in development for the Irving S. Gilmore International Keyboard Festival.In the Rochester area, I have played double bass and bass guitar in pit orchestras for musical theater, jazz combos, and alt-country/Americana band Stella Hill.
