As a reservoir geologist working on the Njord field I work within the multi-disciplinary Petroleum Technology group together with geophysicists, petrophysicists, reservoir engineers and production engineers. My main focus is on well planning, geological modelling, sedimentological interpretation and following up the drilling as an offshore wellsite geologist. Furthermore, I have coordinated the well planning groups for two recent wells.

When I first started as a reservoir geologist for PanTerra Geoconsultants I mainly worked on single-well core descriptions, sedimentological- and petrographical interpretations and reservoir characterisation. Main work areas were the Rotliegendes and Carboniferous of the Dutch North Sea. In addition, I travelled to Libya, Brunei and Morocco for on-site core-description with subsequent interpretation back in the office. Other work activities include a fracture study on Permo-Carboniferous basalts in the German North Sea and cuttings description studies from around the world. During my last year at PanTerra I mainly worked as a petrophysicist on regional studies in Iran and the Dutch North Sea. In addition, I gained experience in seismic interpretation, working on an area of the North Sea Central Graben.

Straight after university I started working as a core analyst, mainly performing and reporting petrophysical analyses of core plugs, such as porosity, permeability and grain density measurements. Most cores came from the Dutch North Sea and India. Core handling and core photography were also important aspects of the job and I got to travel to Kazakhstan and India on several occasions. During this period I left PanTerra and undertook a 6 month round-the-world trip. Upon return I was soon asked to rejoin the company.
