Area and Machine Physics Department Head (Linac & FEL Division)

High-Level Applications Department Head (Linac & FEL Division)-- Provide automation for high-level, facility-wide system tuning-- Long-term planning and project management for effective accelerator operations-- Coordinate software efforts with partner control groups, laboratory wide-- Document controls standards and requirements for globally distributed systems

Responsibilities extended from prior work on ultrafast x-ray FEL pulse generation and diagnosis to also include:-- High-power, pulsed RF stabilization for linac and FEL performance improvement-- Performance enhancements and novel operating modes for a self-seeded FEL-- R&D for LCLS-II high repetition rate timing and diagnostic systems-- Provide end-user support for advanced diagnostic systems
