My whole life, I've been fascinated with engineering and how so many different disciplines are involved in shaping the world around us. Throughout my undergrad and graduate studies, I focused on the integration of electrical and mechanical systems, and found a love for robotics and controls engineering where that integration is crucial. Currently, I am an Automation and Controls Engineer at Hatch, where I work on control systems that drive the metals cold rolling industry. These systems exemplify the seamless blend of mechanical, electrical, and software engineering that I am so passionate about, and I am thrilled to contribute to this field for years to come.In my journey to Hatch, I've had a huge range of different engineering experiences. My master's research thesis at Carnegie Mellon University focused on the design and optimization of simple and underactuated robotic swimmers. Additionally, I play a key role in the design and operation of the Comm/Ops team of CMU's Argus-1 CubeSat mission, where we aim to prove the feasibility of in-orbit image recognition powered attitude determination. In undergrad, my senior capstone project involved design optimization of a vertical axis wind turbine using genetic algorithms and computational fluid dynamics, earning first prize at AIAA's student paper conference.
