For the past 17 years since the very first day I started playing badminton competitively, I have always pushed myself to keep improving, and this is probably my strongest value in whatever I do in life. Sports has nurtured me to face challenges and failures like a champion and it has put me on the right path towards leading a meaningful and successful life & career. 17 years is a long time to devote to one particular sport but it is through the ups and downs of achieving some dreams while failing at others that I have grown the most from.This is why after completing my National Service, I jumped at the opportunity to take on the role of Managing Director at a budding new start-up in the sporting industry, to make an impact in the badminton community. Here at Off The Zone, it is our core mission to support local athletes in their pursuit of sporting excellence and to do so in a sustainable manner. Since I took up this position in 2021, our annual revenue has rocketed by over 60% and more than 5 local athletes have been able to benefit from and receive some financial support from us to compete at international competitions. While pursuing a degree in Economics at SMU, I am also representing Singapore at major competitions such as the FISU World University Games, and other local competitions, at which I have achieved ranked #1 in the Mens Singles Open Category (SBA National Rankings). It is through good personal management and discipline that I am able to perform in my work, studies and sports and I will continue to push my limits in whatever I set out to do.
