I am a partner at the California construction law boutique of Pierce Kavcioglu Espinosa & Cesar LLP, where I practice almost exclusively in legal matters involving the construction industry. I work with construction industry clients from the inception of a project and the formation of contracts to the resolution of claims in litigation, and I look for unique solutions to construction disputes to achieve solutions that are efficient and cost effective for my clients. I have extensive trial experience in construction matters, having tried 15 cases to juries totaling approximately 100 weeks of time in front of juries. In one case, my client obtained a judgment of $37 million and in another my client successfully defeated a false claims action by the City of Los Angeles and recovered over $1 million in attorney’s fees and costs. In a third case a verdict in excess of $30 million was obtained against the San Diego County Water Authority on behalf of my client. My construction experience includes prosecuting and defending construction contract, construction defect, and design defect claims on behalf of owners, contractors and design professionals on both private and public projects. I have also assisted contractors with bid protests and MBE and DBE matters.I also focus on insurance and risk management issues in the construction industry, representing insureds to maximize coverage for construction claims. I have substantial experience in the defense of ADA Title III public access claims; I was trial counsel in one of the few Title III cases to go to trial in California.
