In my work career I’ve been a general mgr. and area supervisor in the food service industry. I have been a volunteer with the Boys Scouts. I have taught Sunday school at my local Church.I am a volunteer with my daughter’s 4H group ages 8-18. During my work life in the food service field, I have worked with youths ages 15-25 to help them mature into adults with a positive self image and positive work ethics. I believe that I have a responsibility to create change in the world. The positive influence I would most like to create is helping our children achieve their highest potential. I can help children with my philosophy on education. I believe that an educational philosophy is not just your personal beliefs but a life style that you engage in. I believe it is similar to a leader’s style of management. An educational philosophy will not just be in a teacher’s classroom but in all parts of his/her life experiences and interactions with people they meet. I believe that education is not just learning new things and creating meaningful relationships. Education is taking new ideas and meaningful relationships and teaching people how to integrate them into their lives to achieve their greatest joy and potential. If a leader can get his people to believe and see the endless dreams that they can associate themselves with then they make those dreams come true. The same is true of a teacher and his student. If a student see learning as just preparing himself for the next grade or for a job, then that is all it will be to him. In colonial times when young children were taught only a trade, the children saw it as what was expected to live. There was no excitement and joy. There were no ideas about changing the world or creating a personal density. My grandfather was a baker, my father was a baker and a baker is what I’ll be. My role as a teacher is to help young children understand that learning new ideas can help them change the world around them and their place in the world.
