Mr. Sample is an expert in analysis and strategy, with proven success in government and private industry. He has a track record of building dynamic, successful teams and on providing valued insights and advice to organizational leaders at all levels. He specializes on government policies, emphasizing the impact of cyber technologies on national and economic security.As Vice President and Manager of Special Programs at Battelle, he developed, grew, and directed programs with the U.S. intelligence community. As part of the leadership team, he envisioned and designed Battelle's transition into a new business model, including creating the plan for Battelle's entry into the cyber market. Earlier industry experience includes Vice President for Strategic Intelligence Strategies and Programs at General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems.His non-profit work includes establishing and serving as full-time President of the Intelligence and National Security Alliance (INSA) in 2005, and he co-founded the Potomac Institute for Policy Studies in 1994.Mr. Sample has more than 40 years of intelligence and policy experience. He served on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI) for nine years, including being Staff Director from June 2000 to May 2003. He held positions from analyst to senior manager in the Central Intelligence Agency, and held variety of other senior government positions, including Deputy U. S. Negotiator for the START Treaty. He also served in US Air Force.Mr. Sample has contributed to three books on intelligence and national security policy, including #CyberDoc: No Borders-No Boundaries, released in Nov 2012. He was a key contributor to a PBS Nova program on the intelligence community’s response to the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. He has appeared on numerous public and government panels and working groups related to intelligence activities, structure, processes, and intelligence and national security policy.
