Fire Captain/Paramedic/Spec. Ops./Tlo
Recruits, trains, and directs crew of firefighters. Oversees activities on an assigned shift across multiple disciplines including firefighting operations, technical rescue, advanced life support medical responses, hazardous materials incidents, natural disasters, and other emergency incidents. Maintains personnel training, directs operations during incident response, and engages with the community to raise public awareness of fire safety and prevention. Manage administrative duties including budgeting, inventory, purchasing supplies and equipment, and allocating resources. Serve as Threat/Terrorism Liaison Officer (TLO) serving as part of Field Intelligence Team in support of Fire and Police command in complex incidents including hostage/barricade, bomb threat/disposal, terrorism, active shooter, drone operations, and other emergency incidents. Serve as liaison between Fire and Law Enforcement to ensure unified command system, perform threat valuation assessments, and collaborate with Arizona Counter Terrorism Information Center to stay apprised of potential risks to the city and its citizenry. ★ Acting Battalion Chief qualified with extensive training to work out-of-class ★ Battalion Safety Officer qualified, coordinating staffing, training, and managing shift roving personnel in addition to serving as Incident Safety Officer at working incidents ★ Certified Hazardous Materials Technician with experience responding to chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive incidents.★ Member of Fire Apparatus Build and Spec Committee (2017 – Present), collaborating with personnel, committee members, and other stakeholders to develop specifications, protocols, and equipment to reduce personnel exposure and improve safety. ★ Serve as member of Fire Station Design and Build Committee (2017 – Present), collaborating on the design and build-out of new fire stations to ensure they meet the future needs of the department and ongoing needs of the community.
