Supporting Pure Storage

As a member of the Storage group responsible for monitoring and maintenance of a large Brocade SAN infrastructure in a 7x24 to a record 99.999% availability for 2010, consisting of 900+ Oracle(Sun) servers in vcs clusters running 490+ Oracle databases using 15Pb of Hitachi array storage. Designed and implemented a solution for Oracle standby databases to replace a need for a NetBackup backup environment and SAN based storage using Network Appliance. Performed datacenter migrations and consolidation of database instances and SAN infrastructure with minimal notice to external customers. Used ZFS with compression to provide a 3x storage savings on an Oracle instance used for archival of transaction data. Participated in on call and SE role rotation to support SAN/Storage environment. Provided daily run the business support for storage needs including host, storage and SAN fabric provisioning as needed. Performed maintenance tasks of hardware replacements, software upgrades to switches and microcode upgrades to arrays, installation and configuration of new hardware for expansion and building of new environments. Participated in and performed new vendor and technology evaluations. Continued to support the backup environment supporting clear case and standard environments. Was involved in maintaining jumpstart OS image updates and distribution. Contributed to business continuity planning and testing program efforts.

Sun hardware integration, configuration and testing of customer orders. Custom build to order enterprise servers and racked solutions. Standard and custom software installations of Sun Solaris OE’s and Linux. Support an equipment evaluation pool of Sun, Nokia, Hitachi, McAfee and StorageTek systems and storage. Process documentation for ISO certification and process training.

Monitoring of servers, network and sites via Big Brother, MRTG and custom tools. Managing website loads across multiple servers running multiple virtual hosts via Net Scaler load balancer. Administration of internal and external mail servers running qmail and sendmail for load balancing and overall consistency of availability of service. Modification of apache and sendmail conf files as needed for service stability. Provided desktop support for swing shift departments. Daily white box testing of sites as well as light black box testing for some sites. Utilizing Bugzilla for issues in the internal and external sites and servers. System administration tasks as needed ranging from the start/stop of services, the upgrade of packages to the OS and the installation of the code base from a CVS repository and/or non-CVS source.

And a secondary role in the graphic arts area creating various marketing collateral, logos, business cards and letterhead for Clearwater IT and a few other small companies and clients.

Administer and maintain user accounts, dial-up accounts, SunOS/Solaris install and maintenance. Addressing issues, problems and solutions with SunOS/Solaris and third party software venders for Y2k compliance. Provide support for desktop issues to a 200+ user and 250+ machine community of engineering and production based users in 3 cities in the US and UK. Provided install and maintenance support for PCs running Linux for development and porting of products. Set-up web servers for internal documentation.

Administer and maintain company software release disk system. Provided data storage and archiving support on CDR/tape/MO. Planned and implemented a Magneto Optical jukebox solution for the company release disk system. Provided installation, migration and maintenance support for jukebox and Ultra AXi host using Tracer MagnaVault on Solaris 2.6. Provided desktop support for SPARCs and PCs in my group of 8 users. Interacted with venders to order newHW/SW, then installed and configured new items within my group.

Created digital map databases. Manipulated map databases withshell scripts via in-house developer's tool kits. Researched andordered new machine through venders for batch work. Reviewed andanalyzed content of databases for quality. Traveled and worked inUK office to expedite work schedules.
