First and foremost, I love solving problems using technology. Ever since turning on my first computer and collaborating on group projects with other students over ICQ I have been obsessed with the idea of using technology to solve practical problems. Information technology is an ever-growing field and the ways in which it can be leveraged to solve everyday problems is limitless. My first professional experience leveraging computing power occurred in 2002. The Defense Military Pay Office computed separation pay using pen and paper and filed only physical records. I automated this process by creating an excel spreadsheet that computed a soldier’s pay digitally, which in turn cut computation time down from 40 minutes to 5 minutes increasing productivity by 800%. This role grew from a side project to a full-time position taking where I leveraged Access to digitize filing storage, information sharing, and support ticket tracking taking this office from pen and paper to the digital world. I have been happily expanding the role technology plays in everyday operations ever since. Today, I am a Network Administrator and Intern Manager at Training Concepts in Columbia, Sc. I am the sole Network Administrator here and currently revamping our network architecture to create a hybrid on-prem and SAAS production environment.Even when I am not in the office, I tend to expand the role technology plays in my everyday life. Most recently, I have been developing an indoor automated gardening system to bridge the gap between my love for cooking, and my love for automation. Both pursuits challenge so many aspects of my intellect: organization, creativity, problem solving. These are the things that keep me up at night, a never ending passion to create beautiful, powerful, helpful things to share with the world.
