• Designed, constructed, and tested a temperature controlled hygroscopicity/volatility tandem differential mobility analyzer to measure the evaporation kinetics and hygroscopic growth of glycerol aerosol. System involved cooling of aerosol upon production to stabilize evaporation and temperature controlling analysis section to investigate temperature/humidity effects [https://doi.org/10.1080/02786826.2016.1245405]• Designed, constructed, and tested a temperature controlled denuder tube system to analyze gas phase partitioning from e-cigarettes. Components included a e-cigarette puffing system that triggered devices via pneumatic and electrical methods, temperature controlled water bath for nicotine collection tube, and software package to control and monitor the system. Analysis happened offline via gas chromatography.

Designed and constructed a drop freezing assay to measure the concentration of ice nuclei in sample water. Construction included the use of feedback control systems to regulate the temperature and optical microscopy to collect the data.Implemented a drop freezing detection algorithm to process images recorded through the drop freezing assay. Software logs detected freeze events and calculates temperature drop froze as well as size and position of the drop. Software is accompanied with a user guided interface to verify algorithm accuracy.Managed a small team of undergraduate research assistants in the collection and processing of in lab samples for instrument verification as well as the collection of field samples of precipitation.
