Active member of Marine Search & Rescue Unit. On call weekly and every fourth weekend to attend to boaters or citizens in distress on or in the water. RCM-SAR works in conjunction with the Canadian Coast Guard.

Richmond Marine Rescue Society is a non-profit society that supports the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary Search and Rescue vessel, Auxiliary 7, which is a delta-configured, rigid hull inflatable (RHIB), fast response vessel. This vessel is capable of speeds in excess of 40 knots in most sea conditions and is based out of Steveston, BC in the south arm of the Fraser River.Auxiliary 7 is an important resource for the Fraser River, Georgia Strait, and surrounding areas providing 24-hour Marine Search and Rescue services.
