I am an experienced writer, editor, storyteller, and educator with a BA in English from Virginia Tech and an MFA in creative writing from George Mason University. My career consists of work in writing, editing, publishing, and higher education. While studying at George Mason University for my MFA (Class of 2022), I worked as an educator, teaching undergraduates in first-year composition, literature, creative writing, and fiction writing. Additionally, I wrote syllabi, created and executed lesson plans, generated materials and assets, assigned grades, and more. While enrolled, I also served as editor-in-chief of Phoebe Journal of Literature and Art, helping to produce six issues over three years, and I was a 2021 Alan Cheuse International Writers Center Fellow.Prior to my time at Mason, I worked for 13 years with the National Electrical Contractors Association's Electrical Contractor Magazine. There, I advanced from associate editor to editor of all magazine digital products, including web issues, web-exclusive content, news, social media, newsletters, and more. I oversaw a small team of editors and writers, and I briefed and advised top magazine and association executives on issues regarding magazine production, marketing, editorial planning, and more.Since finishing my MFA program in May 2022, I have written and edited fiction and nonfiction on a freelance basis for private and corporate clients.I am a writer and editor with a deep appreciation for the craft and publishing. I have enjoyed working on publishing projects from conception to publication to dissemination to archival. I am passionate about the act of creation in all contexts. Writing and producing written communications—pulling ideas from the abstract and refining them into physical existence—can be profound. Whether an individual crafts a piece of literature through reflection and introspection or a team of experts and professionals create a publication for a specific audience, I enjoy being a part of that journey at any stage, especially when helping others reach their potential in creative or professional communications.
