A PhD Fellowship at the core program of Molecular Basis of Disease (MBD), aiming to provide outstanding pre-doctoral students with training in the latest concepts and cutting-edge technology in computational biomedicine. PhD fellows work with faculty across the six interdisciplinary departments of Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics and Statistics, Neuroscience, and Physics and Astronomy to gain the knowledge and tools required to close the gaps between basic science research, translational research, and clinical application. Fellows will gain increased exposure to the vast body of research literature and benefit from shared seminars, symposia, and career development resources in the program.

To conduct research and present findings in Dr. Ritu Aneja (GSU Cancer Biology lab) & Dr. Jun Kong (Emory Biomedical Imaging Informatics lab). Tim takes lead on several projects and synthesis new ideas for future projects. A Siri Asset Release Management Engineer Career Experience (CE) for AI/ML, Tim provided innovative ideas to help build, integrate, automate, and improve engineering productivity. He worked to take the build, integration, and test process of the AI/ML assets on iOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS to the next level for Siri. The strategic goals are automating operational tasks, integrating our build and deployment system with Apple automation and reporting, and identifying process and technology gaps. - Engineer for the AI / ML team and collaborate with an international team of engineers, managers, engineering program managers, and developers. To provide comprehensive and sophisticated training in research strategies and state-of-the-art methods on cellular, molecular and genetic approaches for advancing Cancer Stem Cell Research

This program is apart of the Institute for Quantitative and Computational Biology department at UCLA. This program provides students with hands-on bioinformatics workshops that cover fundamental next generation sequencing data and statistical analysis methods. After the workshops, Tim was matched into Dr. Jason Ernst Lab were I analyzed genes and genomes by evaluating the chromatin state activity of K562 cell line by leveraging CRISPR-Cas9 based epigenetic regulatory element screening (CERES) data. This research project required me to develop a pipeline to better understand the biological systems of the K562 cell line. He incorporated new next-generation data from CERES assay to previous NGS applications such as CRISPR and MPRA.
