When I was a young boy my father owned a commercial roofing company in upstate NY. At age 20, with my father and brother, we started up a roofing company in Daytona Beach, FL. It was a company that focused primarily on residential and small commercial applications. Some specialty products but mostly asphalt shingles, modified bitumen, and EPDM.After several years I parted ways with the family business and started selling various products and services to start. I always had my hand in the roofing and construction business along the way to make extra money but selling made me feel different. When I discovered the Oil/Gas business, I thrived. I loved it. That's when I realized that forming relationships, whether it would be the clients, the landowners, attorneys, and everyone in between, is the key to maximizing my productivity. It was very difficult for me to leave the business. Traveling took me further and further away from my young children so I made the right choice. Eventually I had an opportunity to sell metal roofing, siding, and substructure for a major manufacturer. How cool was that to be on the other side of the business and work with contractors and distributors selling what I grew up doing myself. I learned so much and was grateful for the opportunity.It's been over ten years now selling for manufacturing. And all of the products I sold were of the highest quality.Looking forward to the next ten.
