I always dreamed beyond my Philadelphia roots, and, by 14 I would "dream" in Spanish, a language I could not speak. This led me to embark on an international career as a Fulbright Scholar and with BCG, pausing only for a Stanford MBA. I followed my passion to explore the road less traveled and always aim to walk in another’s shoes before taking action. I started my journey when international experience was still the domain of English speaking expats. I was young, so I would need my Spanish to be as fluent with a bricklayer as it was in strategy sessions with client CEOs. I welcomed the challenge. >16 years at BCG taught me to deliver on any deadline with speed and conviction. Doing so in >25 countries necessitated walking in others' shoes to derive insights only available to those with the humility to look. It was challenging and fun. And in a career defined by change, one constant was my focus and ability to translate insight into true impact, ultimately receiving BCG’s highest partner recognition. Post-BCG, I wanted not just to coach the game but play in it. After a stint in VC firm and starting a Family Office advisory, I found my chance to wear the player's jersey. At Topl, we were passionate about impact...and business. We recognized sustainable change will only occur when businesses are rewarded for positive impact. We looked to lead this change by using the blockchain based traceability product we built & launched to tell customers' stories. Building an amazing team and speaking at multiple (international) impact conferences will forever be highlights of my career.As the saying goes, however, the only constant in life is change. And while I loved the early stage challenge, I realized my talents were best utilized in bigger companies. I joined a PE backed company as Chief Transformation Officer where I could utilized both my consulting skills and operator experience to drive bottom line impact...fast. We sold NEORIS in less than 2 years at a great valuation, creating positive impact for all involved. So once again, change is the norm, now as an executive at Epam Systems. Where will this end up, only time will tell. The specific challenge might be new but the focus is the same. It is a continuation of the only journey I know how to embrace, the kind that requires me to first walk in another’s shoes before being able to truly support them. It is not hard to do…all one needs is the openness to remove his/her own shoes first.
