Direct day-to-day operations of centralized server and application hosting team consisting of over 600 physical (IBM, Dell, HP) and virtual servers (VMWare, Citrix Xen), 4 system administrators and approximately 60 customers from across the UNC Chapel campus.Direct day-to-day operations of centralized Microsoft Infrastructure team including Active Directory, Exchange, Office 365, Lync and SharePoint serving approximately 60,000 accounts and managed by a team of 5.Direct day-to-day operation of of programming and system administration services team comprised of a manager, 2 developers and 2 system administrators and charged with general systems management duties in service of customers that have contracted for systems management services. It also is charged with developing a robust set of tools to monitor and drive our platforms in service of mainly tier I and tier II teams.Responsible for managing campus initiative to move to a single, centralize Active Directory serving over 175 departments and over 80,000 users. Manage day-to-day operations of central messaging and hosting team comprised of 12-14 full time and contract employees performing System, Administration, System Development, Application Development, and Engineering on both UNIX and Windows environments.Manage administration and design of centralized virtual and physical hosting service with over 500 physical and virtual servers hosted including HIPAA and PCI environments. Manage administration of ~60,000 user messaging environment utilizing a federated cloud and on-premise Microsoft Exchange deployment.Manage 2-year migration project of over 80,000 users to 2 different environments while identifying 20,000 accounts that should be removed. Responsibilities includes oversight of all project managers, technical staff, communications, peer reviews, executive reviews, user group reviews, contract management and service design.Manage administration of UNC Chapel Active Directory deployment in a decentralized/delegated workgroup environment consisting of a multitude of Organizational Units.Manage service operation and design of Sharepoint environment consisting of roughly 200 sites in an environment that is doubling its size year over year.Manage administration of centralized Citrix application hosting environment.

Develop strategies and plan implementation and maintenance of about 70 servers that comprise the main Email and Calendaring systems at UNC Chapel Hill including Listserv with 1.2M subscribers on 70,000 lists, spam and virus filters, and other tangential messaging applications. These systems have about 70,000 users and handles over 1,000,000 messages per day.

Oversees management and direction for all planning, control and operational functions for information technology. Develops Enterprise level technical plans and architectures. Implements IT Governance and change management frameworks, collaborating with the head of IT and the other IT Directors.Develops IT capital and operating budget and long range plans to support business goals and objectives.Responsible for the development and implementation of an overall framework for IT change management/configuration management.
