  • It Starts Today
    Owner
It Starts Today Jun 2017 - Jun 2019
    Gothenburg, Sweden
In 2017 I decided to start my own leadership company. I have always had an interest in leadership and having had numerous leadership roles in the past, the chance to start my own leadership company was something that I had thought of for a while. I took the opportunity to work in cooperation with Think Do & Grow and today I have access to their leadership and training programmes. As well as my work with Think Do & Grow I also provide business English sessions for clients, and have helped a number of preschools with leadership development projects.

    Sweden
Think Do & Grow is a Swedish based leadership development company. At Think Do & Grow I worked as a leadership developer and provided coaching and leadership services in English and Swedish. I provided leadership training either onsite or via video-conference. I was also involved in the production of Think Do & Grow’s podcast “Inspirerande Ledarskap” (Inspirational Leadership).
  • Göteborgsoperan Ab
Chorus Member; Monster In The Maze
    Göteborgsoperan Ab Nov 2017 - 2018
    Gothenburg, Sweden
The Monster in the Maze brought together over 200 participants: opera singers, amateur singers of all ages, professional orchestral musicians and young musicians. Having previously sung as a child and at university, singing was something that I had stopped doing since I moved to Sweden in 2001. Since 2015 I had bought season tickets to the GöteborgsOpera, and when I saw that they were holding auditions for a semi-professional opera production, I decided to see if I could get a part. I auditioned along with over 200 adults, and in the end, I was selected along with 50 others.
  • Happy Kids Education
    Part Owner And Manager
Happy Kids Education Aug 2012 - May 2017
    Gothenburg, Sweden
Happy Kids Education is a bilingual education organisation running two preschools and other learning-based activities on the West Coast of Sweden.I initially joined Happy Kids as a development manager, but within the space of a year I became a part-owner in the company and assumed the role as the manager (huvudman). I was the manager for two preschools with close to 200 children and 30 members of staff. During this role I had a close cooperation with the pre-school principal and we divided up our responsibilities in accordance with the curriculum and the school laws. In my time at Happy Kids, we managed to implement a number of areas that helped take the preschool forward. I was most proud of our progress in digital areas which saw us bringing Pluttra and Tempus into the preschools as well as a greater use of technology amongst the children. We also started up an English group for children of school age as well as weekend dance classes for children. Happy Kids was a new experience for me as I ended up being part owner of a company. The direct leadership of the preschools was done by the pre-school principal, so I had to lead in a new way than I was previously accustomed. I enjoyed being a company owner though, and it gave me new insights into how to run a business while being more “hands off” than “hands on”.
  • Vittra
    Team Leader
    Vittra Feb 2012 - Jun 2012
    Stockholm, Sweden
With my process of moving to Gothenburg taking a few months longer than expected, I agreed to temporarily return to Vittra as a team leader for a number of pre-school groups on a project employment.
  • Folkuniversitetet
    Examination Invigilator
    Folkuniversitetet Aug 2003 - Apr 2012
    Stockholm, Sweden
Folkuniversitetet provides adult education courses throughout the whole of Sweden.Once a month I was an invigilator for the IELTS examinations. This role saw me monitoring and assisting students under their examinations and then making sure all the relevant papers were securely collected. IELTS is a worldwide exam, and many students need to pass this to receive the relevant language requirement for entrance to Universities around the world. Many students would come to Stockholm from all over Europe just to take this exam. It was important that they were well met and had the best possible conditions for an exam that for many decided their future. This professionalism and level of customer service was something that inspired me a great deal and is something I have taken with me throughout my working life.
  • Futuraskolan
    Pre-School Principal
    Futuraskolan Aug 2011 - Feb 2012
    Lidingö, Sweden
Futuraskolan AB is a company that operates nine preschools and seven schools in Stockholm and the Greater Stockholm areaWhen the project with Vittra International came to an end, I accepted a job as the pre-school principal for three preschools on Lidingö. The main reason for me taking this position was because that the pre-school has just failed its local government inspection and I saw it as a challenge to help turn the preschool around. I was also keen to take the position as the preschools in question were all Swedish speaking. I wanted to test myself to see if I could lead in a wholly Swedish working environment. Due to my decision to move to Gothenburg, I was only at Futuraskolan for a short time. In my time there I was pleased that we managed to rectify the points the local government had brought up. I was also happy that I successfully managed to lead and run three preschools in Swedish.
  • Vittra
    Pre-School Principal And Project Manager.
    Vittra Jan 2004 - Jun 2011
    Stockholm, Sweden
Vittra was at the time (and still is today) one of Sweden’s largest free-school companies. I started working at one of Vittra’s bilingual preschools as a substitute teacher in 2004. After working just a few months, I was offered the position to be one of the permanent group teachers. In 2007 I was asked by the current pre-school principal if I was interested in becoming the team-leader for the preschool. I enjoyed the role and at the end of the year, I received Vittra’s “Teacher of the year” award from over 1500 teachers. In 2008 the then current pre-school principal went on maternity leave and I was asked to become the pre-school principal in her absence. Being a pre-school principal was a new challenge for me and I found myself as one of Vittra’s youngest ever pre-school principal, but for me, it was my first long-awaited chance to be a leader of a company. At the end of the first year the preschool I was in charge of won the prize for highest increase in quality inside of Vittra. In 2009, I was offered the possibility to become project manager for a new project in Vittra called Vittra International. This project involved me working with Vittra’s six bi-lingual schools and preschools and coordinating international projects between them. At the same time, I was involved with meetings from abroad as Vittra looked to increase it’s profile worldwide. I learnt many things from my time at Vittra and benefitted from many of the competence development schemes that the company offered. These included leadership training, media training and a number of IT-related training programmes. In my role as project manager at Vittra International, I had the opportunity to work with many people from whom I learned a great deal. Amongst other things I learned a lot about marketing, planning events and also working with social media.
  • Söderportgymnasiet, Upper Secondary School
    English Language Assistant
Söderportgymnasiet, Upper Secondary School Sep 2002 - Jun 2003
    Kristianstad, Sweden
Söderportgymnasiet is an upper secondary school in Kristianstad, Sweden. At my time of working there, the school had some 300 students. After completing my courses at Kristianstad University, I was offered the job of an English language assistant at Söderport Gymnasium. 50% of my work here involved teaching English to the gymnasium students and the other 50% working with students at Riksgymnasium, for students with severe mobility disabilities. Söderportgymnasiet was my first job in Sweden and gave me a valuable first insight into the Swedish working environment. I also began to see the vital leadership role teachers play in helping to form the next generation.
