About Nic Mcelveen
Transitioning from vocational ministry to the 'real job' market was one of the most challenging transitions of my life. The vocational ministry field was all I knew, so it was a challenging step for me, but I knew I needed to take it. Once I did, it’s been so fulfilling and rewarding. I moved into a project manager role in March 2020 at Pro MediaFire to learn and grow in my position and understanding. I was quickly promoted to operations manager with my talent for detail-oriented processes & systems within three months. In my short tenure there, I initiated agile methods to increase company communication and efficiency to create a leaner organization. I am proud of this because I doubted if I did the 'right thing' by leaving the vocational ministry. However, I continued to find fulfillment in my career move despite that uncertainty in the back of my mind. With some other creative and project shepherding role experience under my belt, I am now a product owner for Soundstripe. I couldn't be happier with making those incrementally tough decisions to move into something new. When I'm not on the job, the most essential thing in my life is being with my wife and 4 kids. Whether that’s teaching the kids how to grow vegetables in the garden, or sitting on the couch with a nice glass of scotch rewatching The Office with my wife - all that matters is that we are together.
