As an Associate Teacher with the Open University of Catalunya (UOC) I work with adult learners as an online tutor, moderator and course facilitator. Working with adult learners I facilitate the delivery of learning activities, moderate and support their collaboration in group learning activities, provide them with timely feedback on their efforts and manage the completion of different learning activities during their course. In my collaboration with the UOC I have also worked as an instructional designer for ESP and General English courses, designed and taught on English for Specific Purposes courses for faculty staff and participated as a research assistant in studies related to online collaboration and communication.

As content manager, lead instructional designer and team leader I have overseen the design and implementation of various blended learning solutions in line with the development of our five core learning products. We have developed syllabi for a broad range of levels in accordance with the European Framework of Languages (CEFR) A1-C1 where the main focus is the improvement of the communicative competence of participants in professional contexts.Each of our products rely on the effective implementation of technology for the delivery of learning activities to end users and to facilitate communication between participants. We work in various venues with our clients offering bespoke solutions based on the needs and circumstance of the end users. All course material is digitally delivered through our learning platform and learners participate in our courses in either face-to-face or virtual classrooms, over Skype and by telephone. These synchronous learning activities are combined with asynchronous online activity. Learners access the learning platform to complete self-study activities selected in accordance with their learning needs and collaborate in group activities with other members of their group.

I was contracted by the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce to design and direct a post-graduate programme specifically designed to attract graduates from East Asia to relocate and study in Barcelona with a view to promote commercial ties with institutions and companies in their home nations through their placement with Barcelona-based businesses. The programme was coordinated with various collaborators, including tertiary educational institutions (the Autonomous University of Barcelona and the Pompeu Fabra University), specialist trainers and international business’ and associationsAs well as acting course director I was also the course teacher, syllabus writer and content provider for the International Business English and Communication course on the programme. I prepared learners for the Cambridge BEC Vantage and Higher Examinations and acted as the Personal Tutor and Learning Coach for all participants. I coordinated and managed learner resources and self-access resources and interviewed, tested and selected candidates for this specialist programme from India, China, Japan, Taiwan, Vietnam and South Korea
