FAA/TFDM Early Implementation systems engineering

Supported the Surveillance Systems Engineering Services (SSES) (ATB-410) in the area of the ASR-11, ATCBI-6, and Mode S/Extended TIS. Coordinated with the Office of Spectrum Assignment (ASR-100) and Nav Canada to develop additional PRFs and frame tables to overcome shortages of Mode S site II codes for areas of overlapped radar coverage to accommodate replacement systems (Nav Canada’s Mode S system and the ASR-11). Analyzed data collected for site II testing by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Lincoln Laboratory (MIT/LL). Supported the Air Traffic Control Beacon Interrogator Model 6 (ATCBI-6) Acquisition Program procurement for the FAA’s AND-450. Identified the ATCBI-6 Prime Mission and support equipment. Investigated ATCBI-6 interfaces to Air Route Surveillance Radars (ARSRs), military Fixed Radar Surveillance (FPS) series radars, the Common Digitizer Model 2 (CD 2), the HOST computer, Automated Radar Terminal Systems (ARTS), and Standard TRACON Automation Replacement System (STARS). Participated on the ATCBI-6 Specification and Statement of Work (SOW) working groups. Led the Fault Injection & Recovery (FIR) and Re Qualification DT&E testing. Coordinated with the USAF, USN, the AIMS Program Office, and the FAA’s Operations Support (AOS 230) and Technical Center Surveillance (ACT 310) groups for the development of performance and interface requirements for ATCBI-6/ARSR-4/Mode 4 operations. Participated in the design, construction, implementation, test, and validation of the STARS/ASR-9 Serial Interface System (ASIS) data feed at Boston s Logan Airport, and in the installation and test of the ASIS modifications at Boston, Detroit, Southern California TRACON, and the El Paso key Site. Tested and documented the ASR-8 to STARS interface at the WJHTC.
