Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) in Physics which focused on the human auditory cortex. Developed complex sound waves in MATLAB which included perturbing the onset period of the sounds with anharmonic frequencies of Gaussian amplitude. Studied how the magnetic field of the brain responds to these shifts. The sound waves were played in a subject's right ear, and the brain activity was mapped using magnetoencephalography. Initial results suggest the transfer of temporal information in addition to spectral information being sent by the cochlea to the brain during the onset time.
