My focus as an experienced commercial litigator is helping clients resolve disputes. I explore clients' legal and non-legal drivers, then develop and implement strategies to achieve those objectives. I also have an extensive advisory practice. My special interest is intellectual property, and I assist clients in both contentious and non-contentious matters. I advise across the spectrum of intellectual property, including copyright, trade marks, patents, designs, advertising, confidential information, domain names and anti-counterfeiting. I have acted for clients in landmark Australian test cases for both copyright and designs. I am also the joint head of the firm's Trade Mark and Brand Protection Group which is responsible for all matters relating to the registration of trade marks including clearance searches, applications, renewals, oppositions and non-use applications.My clients come from a range of industries, although I am well recognised for my expertise in the technology, media and telecommunications sectors. I also have extensive experience working with public sector clients.I have acted for clients in numerous jurisdictions, including the High Court, Federal Court, Federal Circuit Court, Supreme Courts of the ACT, NSW, Victoria and NT (and their inferior courts), Administrative Appeals Tribunal, and the Copyright Tribunal. My work with global clients has also led to a strong practice in international arbitration.I am a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, a member of the Law Society of NSW Litigation Law & Practice Committee, a board member of the Communications and Media Law Association, a member of the International Trademark Association's Enforcement Committee, and a member of the Intellectual Property Society of Australia and New Zealand.
