My primary research interests include the understanding of detection and transmission processes of infectious diseases of livestock using statistical and mathematical modelling tools, and to assess the effectiveness of prevention and control strategies in order to reduce their epidemiological impacts. Currently, most of my research focuses on highly pathogenic avian influenza and African swine fever.At the veterinary school, I teach health legislation, notifiable infectious diseases of animals and how to monitor and control them. I also coordinate the master programme GIZMAT (Integrated Management of Zoonoses and Tropical Animal Diseases) where I teach infectious disease modelling. I am the director of the Population Medicine programme of the European College of Veterinary Public Health at the ENVT.
