Development of Business solutions, extensions, integrations, and reports for ERP and CRMCreate and update business system software, including Dynamics AX Development, SSIS Development, SSRS Development, SQL DB development, and Dynamics AX Setup and Administration.I joined the team at the tail end of troubled Dynamics AX 2009 – 2012R2 upgrade. Although hired for ERP development I found my SQL experience filled a skills gap that was needed to identify and resolve many external bottlenecks that were causing the new AX 2012 system run poorly. I found some of worst the bottlenecks were from inefficient SSIS routines and SQL Views built outside of AX. To resolve these, I rewrote the SSIS routines, from unreliable ones that took hours, to fault tolerant ones that took seconds and minimized impact. Fixed and optimized the views that were meant used to feed data to other Business Systems solving both performance and accuracy issues. Identified a 3rd party reporting product, that was causing the entire system to come to a crawl whenever financial reporting was being run. I rewrote several key financial reports in SSRS using advanced views created within the Dynamics AX AOT. This allowed Biamp to stop using that product.Within Dynamics AX: Performed hundreds of small fixes within the old code base to allow it to correctly compile on a fresh install without any errors or warnings. Fixed the behavior of cash discounts to exclude freight. Added warranty and extended warranty functionality to the sales order process. Enhanced several of the key SSRS documents and their data methods such as sales orders, invoices, purchase orders, aging. Identified the root causes of a pair of issues stemming from a 3rd party configuration product and giving thorough details to the 3rd party so they could address our concerns. Worked on a team with an external partner to automate the build and deployment processes that greatly reduced the risk and man-hours involved in deployment.

Provide technical leadership, design, develop, and optimize diverse business solutions. Have developed and / or guided the development of hundreds of solutions over the 12 years I have been at EPIC, below are the highlights. My current priority is leading the effort to migrate legacy systems such as IBM Notes Domino and Cognos to the latest Microsoft based technologies and determine the most appropriate platform for each. This included implementing TSQL, SSIS, SSRS, IIS, and various .NET frameworks, all from the ground up including setting up and configuring the virtual servers to writing the code that runs on them. Implementing source and version control through Visual Studio Online (The cloud version of Team Foundation Server) to manage the code, and setting up a Microsoft Azure IaaS cloud based development environment.More recent larger projects include a rebuild of a highly complex credit card processing and settlement system and creating a management front end for it to empower non IT staff to easily manage the system. Updated an aging point of sale system to add new capabilities and increase stability. In-house technical lead to support the rollout of a commodities trading and logistics ERP system roll-out, and a key supporting role in a new CRM system implementation. My most impactful project was a web based aviation fuel sales ticket entry, billing, and reimbursement system that fully integrated with EPICs ERP system and accounting system. This greatly reduced time to bill, greatly improved accuracy, freed up enormous amounts of operating capital, and reduced labor needed in these tasks to a minimum. The end result has saved, and continues to save millions of dollars and helps showcase the IT department as an investment rather than just a cost center. My most recognized project was a quality control, inspection, scoring, and safety documentation application that twice received the Operations Excellence award from our parent company.

Created applications for reporting, business analysis, point of sale processing, call logging, workflow, and various customer facing web portals. My love for computers lead me to teach myself enough that I was able demonstrate the skills necessary for a position doing telephone technical support. I provided support for a variety of computers, peripherals, and software. During this time I gleaned a great deal of knowledge from the 100s technicians around me and within a year was consistently in the top 5% for call volume and top 1% for customer satisfaction each week. When the phones were quiet I took it upon myself to use any down time to build browser based information tools using Front Page (ASP.NETs predecessor) to aid in support efforts. This included a knowledge base, how-tos for resolving know issues and document organizing framework. I then worked with the other techs to help scan, index, and organize product specs and manuals into the framework I built so they were readily available. This greatly improved the effectiveness and quality of the support provided by the many techs who used these tools. Although such tools are commonplace these days, for the mid 90s this was cutting edge.In 1998 the staff programmer suddenly quit, leaving several client facing time sensitive projects incomplete. This created an urgent need to the fill the position, but these applications used a lesser known platform and they struggled to find a replacement. My co-workers suggested to management that I could probably figure it out in a pinch, so I was offered a chance to give it a try. I was able to quickly learn the platform and complete the projects within their original deadlines. Due to this valuable success I was offered the developer position permanently.

Marketing and sales of residential and investment properties throughout the state of Oregon.Over time as the real estate industry embraced new technologies, I found myself contracting out my technical and market analysis skills to other agents and spending less time selling homes. I even helped with the roll-out of one of the earliest real estate websites. Ultimately I learned this was my passion and true calling and began my career in IT.
