Following a restructure of the Experiences and Vacation Rental businesses, my reporting line changed to be part of the Tripadvisor Operations org. which allowed me to formalise the work I had started automating UI flows for Tripadvisor.comDuring this time I was able to develop the US based team to include a strong Manual testing team as well as the existing Automation side of things.We had several large projects that resulted in new working relationships with 3rd party contractor providing companies and the team grew considerably during this time. The contractors have been integrated into all aspects of the team and work seamlessly with the FullTime members and the processes put in place previously meant that the Ukranian/Moldovan timezones were not an issue.As part of this process the 3rd party provider offered us Junior/Intern contractors which I gladly accepted and implemented a training programme for them. 3 out of 7 of them are now fully fledged Junior Automation Engineers.As the different dev teams within the Tripadvisor group updated their processes to move to CI/CD I have advised and implemented several different testing solutions to meet the individual requirements of each team. This has included... a RestAssured API testing project, pact.io for contract tests, in-house Java API based testing framework, investigation into Mocha JS framework for Javascript based UI flows.We have also implemented an AWS remote Selenium Grid using AWS spot instances for running our parallel UI flows. More recently I have evaluated and started the move to a 3rd party grid provider to allow us to replace all our in-house Selenium Grids (including native app and web ui testing)

QA Manager Vacation Rentals and ExperiencesTaken on responsibility for the Experiences Team in Sydney, AustraliaReviewed their current team structure and reorganised for team strength and efficiencyImplemented a daily release process including a new Java based set of Selenium UI customer flow automations. This provided the missing release verifications to provide confidence that the code being released was fit for purpose. Following this implementation saw a reduction in the number of issues hitting live whilst seeing an increase of features being released.We also implemented releases across the timezones and at one point were releasing 3 times in a 24h period. After an efficiency/productivity review it was decided that releasing twice in a 24h period was actually sufficient for business needs.I structured the skills within all 3 teams so that we were able to provide "follow-the-sun" QA cover for any release related issues. All members of all teams knew what each other were working on and could hand work over if needed. This put us in a very resilient state to cope with cut backs due to Covid etc.I have mentored and trained a few people in the team from Automation Engineer coding to Junior Manager onboarding.During this time I was able to promote key members of each team to be Managers of their team units whilst keeping a sense of a Global QA team that worked closely together
